Okay, so UConn has Spring Weekend every year and it’s like the biggest deal ever. Anyways, if me and my closest thousands of friends are walking down the trail (during Spring Weekend) to these off campus apartments with backpacks on, can the police search them without our consent (probably in a search for alcohol)? And perhaps to add on to the question, what are my rights?
Keep in mind: this is in the Storrs, Connecticut.

I am 19 years old planning a backpacking trip to Colorado in the spring, we have all been on other weeklong type trips in the wilderness, and I have even been to the Rockies. I’m trying to buy a backpack for college that will be able to carry my laptop along with my books, binders, etc. I’m thinking about buying a North Face Jester. Would it be ok if I just put the laptop (in a protective sleeve) straight into the backpack, or should I buy a backpack that has a built-in sleeve for the laptop?
And if anyone has backpack suggestions, that would be appreciated, too. Thanks!
